One Example, I had to work on Saturday so a close friend of mine came over & watched Bug for me, was only for about a 2 hour time span, but I called her on my way home to check in on them. She informed me that I had a drama queen temper tantrum in full progress because she wouldn't take Bug to buy a new toy or to Burger King to get lunch. His other sitters (My mother & Grandmother) are the worst about every time he is with them they buy him more toys and it has instilled this expectation into his mindset. I ain't gonna have that shiz!!
Another Example, Last night Big Daddy & I asked Bug to clean his room before going to bed - after being home in the house all day due to the weather it was a complete disaster! In full Bug mode he went upstairs, stomping every stair - huffing & puffing. Once he reached his room he began to talk smack: "Why do I always have to clean MY room", "I can't do this on my own, there's too much to do", "This is sooo stupid". Then he proceeds to throw toys in the hallway & this is where I snapped. I am usually the laid back Momma, will give in and go help him clean his room, but not tonight. I turned into a Mean Mom.
I ran up those stairs, grabbed Bug and moved him to the hallway, asked him to go get me 2 trash bags that I was going to clean his bedroom. I used to tell him stories of how when I didn't clean my room, my Mother would lock me out of my room & Clean it for me. Of course she would weed out all the really cool
However, I think Bug did learn a valuable lesson & Just for reference, I did not throw away his toys, I organized them in his closet and shut the door. After I was done Big Daddy & I sat him down to discuss what happened, what will be done differently next time, and what we learned from this. I feel confident that when we ask Bug to clean his room there will no longer be any smack talk or crocodile tears.
Would you say I'm a MEAN MOMMY? I got called that ALOT last night from Bug!
